Lights, camera, action!

1. They don’t procrastinate

I’ve noticed that excellent students study what they learnt in class that same day or at worse that week, they don’t often procrastinate studying a subject after a class because they are aware that procrastination is the killer of time.

2. They don’t neglect study groups

Often times excellent students have study groups, they come together to ask questions and keep themselves updated on a particular subject in case they have missed anything out while reading.

To become an  excellent student, you must be willing to join in group discussions, it is not compulsory you contribute to the discussion but it is necessary, you can listen to what is being discussed to keep yourself updated and study the part of the subject you never studied after coming to the realization in the discussion that it is important.

The popular saying “If you want to go faster, go alone but if you want to far, go with a friend” also applies in academic excellence, studying and discussing topics taught in class helps keep what you have learnt fresh in your head.

3. They learn from their colleagues and other sources

They don’t rely only on their notes, they learn from friends, colleagues, materials found in the library and online resources. They compare what they have studied earlier with the other sources mentioned above, in the process, they understand the subject better and do well in their exams.
In the process of gathering knowledge from other sources apart from their note, they learn something new.

4. They do all assignments and they don’t miss practicals and mid-semester exams

Students that achieve success in their subjects know that assignments, mid-semester exams, practicals are crucial in having an A grade in a subject, so they don’t joke with them, they ensure their assignments are done well and get them submitted, that also applies to mid-semester exams, they prepare well mid-semester exams and ensure they do well in it.

5. They ask questions

They ask questions when they don’t understand something, they don’t rest till they get an answer either by asking a friend, the lecturer of the course, seeking for answers online or in the library, they must find answers to what they don’t understand.
He who asks a question is a fool for five minutes; he who does not ask a question remains a fool… Click To Tweet – Chinese proverb

6. They attend more than 70% of all classes

They attend 70% of all classes, they don’t miss class often because of the salient points and hints the lecturer might mention in the class, which is going to be helpful during the examination, this salient points and hints are not always provided in the notes nor textbooks.

7. They prepare weeks before the exam

They don’t wait till it is a day before the exam before they start preparing. They prepare early for their exams. This is very necessary because it reduces your workload and stress during exam period

By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail Click To Tweet
